Seaborne Airlines goes cashless

Monday, 4 December 20173 min read

San Juan based Seaborne Airlines has ditched cash transactions at ticket counters and has gone cashless.

The airline has asked customers to ‘plan accordingly when purchasing a ticket or baggage fee payments.’

It accepts payment by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, ATH, and company checks.

"This operational change should speed up your check-in times," Seaborne said in a media release.

The airline said kiosks at San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport are available to convert cash into a pre-paid debit card which can then be used for tickets or bag fees, and for other purchases where debit or credit cards are accepted.

It also plans to introduce a pre-paid debit card option at other airports it serves.

The new policy rolled out on December 1.

"The reservations team is working on a new procedure that will allow them to take credit card payments to pre-pay for baggage. This will ease issues with customers and bags," Seaborne added.

Seaborne serves more than a dozen Caribbean destinations including St Kitts, Anguilla, St Maarten and the US Virgin Islands.
