Search for overboard cruise guest suspended
The US Coast Guard has suspended a sea and air search for a man who went overboard from a cruise ship off the Florida coast.
A 30-year-old male passenger reportedly jumped from the Carnival Elation ship on Sunday.
The cruise ship was returning from a four-day Bahamas cruise back to Jacksonville.
“Sadly, after an exhaustive onboard search and a review of security camera video it was determined that he jumped,” Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson Matt Lupoli said.
“Shoreside authorities were notified, and the crew was advised to continue to Jacksonville.”
The US Coast Guard was alerted early Sunday, and a comprehensive search was carried out.
It ended early Tuesday.
Six passengers have gone overboard on Carnival Cruise Line ships since 2022.
