Six Flags-Cedar Fair merger gets DOJ approval
The planned theme park merger between Cedar Fair and Six Flags has got the green flag by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The companies have negotiated the final regulatory obstacle and expect to close the deal on July 1.
The combined business will operate under the Six Flags name with a senior management under Cedar Fair president and CEO Richard Zimmerman ready to start
The new $8 billion business will have management of 42 parks and 9 resorts in the US, Mexico and Canada.
“With an anticipated pro-forma enterprise value of approximately $8bn, the combined company is well positioned to drive future growth,” Zimmerman said.
“Our enhanced financial flexibility will enable us to invest in new rides, attractions, food and beverage options, and state-of-the-art technologies.”
Six Flags CEO Selim Bassoul will become executive chairman.
The merged company will have its headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.
