Solomon Islands Q1 tourist arrivals best since 2019
Tourism Solomons is celebrating its best first quarter for international visitors since the pandemic.
Solomons tourism data from the National Statistics Office for Q1 shows a total of 4,903 foreign tourist arrivals.
This is an increase of 24% on the same period in 2023.
Australian arrivals continued to dominate with 1,484 arrivals.
New Zealand tourist numbers also increased, up 39% from 236 to 329 while numbers from Fiji rose 11%.
The strongest growth is from Papua New Guinea which is up more than 84%.
However, the US market was down 5%.
The Solomons’ record Q1 for tourism was in 2019 with over 6,000 arrivals.
Tourism Solomons acting CEO Dagnal Dereveke said its marketing efforts jointly with Solomon Airlines is paying dividends.
“Our 2024 marketing strategy continues to be fixed on rebuilding and growing the numbers in our key source markets,” Dereveke said.
