Surefire prescription for more on-time flights: less planes
The reduced flight volume in September led to more on-time airplane performance, according to Conducive Technology’s latest FlightStats.
FlightStats says the airline performance for the month was “mixed.”
The number of scheduled flights for the month was down 15%, but collective on-time performance was up 7%. The average length of delay was down 11%.
“The end of the summer travel season, the reduction of flights to offset high fuel costs and reductions due to bankruptcy reorganizations appear to have relieved congestion throughout the system,” concluded the report.
Turbulence in the airline business included hurricanes, bankruptcies and higher fuel prices. That led to fewer flights.
