Texas university training Thai MICE students
Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau plans to create a strategic educational partnership with the University of North Texas (UNT) to nurture the next generation of MICE professionals.
TCEB’s Administration and Strategic Support vice president, Chiruit Israngkun Na Ayuthaya said the unique partnership will strengthen Thailand’s appeal as a MICE destination.
"This agreement is crucial to Thailand in terms of marketing and sales promotions, as the US is among the top 10 source countries for MICE visitors."
It will leverage Thailand’s MICE industry to meet international standards in preparation for the ASEAN Economic Community," Chiruit said.
UNT will connect with approximately 80 MICE participating universities and colleges in Thailand to develop a tourism and MICE focused curriculum, he said.
The memorandum of agreement between the two parties will cover academic and research activities, scholarships, and student mobility programs.
There will also be joint conferences and common research programs developed.
The bureau hopes to train up to 5,000 MICE students each year during the long term program and has previously partnered with education institutions in Germany, Japan, the US, Australia, Switzerland, China, and UK.
