The real Dominican experience- would you dare?
Now the tourists will have a chance to explore Dominican reality and dive into the most hospitable culture of the Caribbean.
Being right in the heart of the region, Dominican Republic has always been famous for its breathtaking beaches and all inclusive luxurious resorts. Those types of vacations are amazing, and this environment is already a part of perceived Dominican culture. However the country is so complex and this is only a small piece that gives you very quick glance on the Dominican lifestyle. This country is full of contrasts and surprises and it’s necessary to get away from the hotel territory to feel it.
For the visitors who would like to see the other side of Dominican Republic, there is a unique opportunity- "The real thing". This project dares to go past the doors of the resorts and show the country’s diverse reality, it totally reveals the peculiarities and lets the tourist feel the vibe of Dominican culture.
The project team organizes this tour in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo – the first city of the new world and the UNESCO world heritage. The interactive excursion gives the visitor brief information on the historical past of the island together with the stories and legends of old times and guides you through the most important monuments of the Colonial Zone. Followed by 2,5 hours spent in the neighbourhood that used to be the first working settlement, the excursion will leave the visitor with the impression of being Dominican for the whole day. Visit to the local family, traditional Dominican food, historical sights of the oldest neighbourhood on the island, drinks and typical dances let the visitor feel how diverse the country is.
This project has a social value as well: part of money from each excursion is donated to the foundation of the neighbourhood for the education of local kids. For further information, you can check the website http://www.therealdr.org
