Thick fog disrupts Melbourne airport

Thursday, 25 Jul, 2006 0

THICK fog has caused delays for many outgoing domestic flights and has forced the diversion of three incoming international flights at Melbourne Airport.

Spokeswoman Brooke Lord said the airport had been shrouded in fog since 2.45am (AEST) today.

Most flights were arriving on time and the airport remained open, but many domestic flights were departing between 30 minutes and two-and-a-half hours behind schedule, she said.

“Obviously this will have a substantial flow-on effect during the day.”

A Qantas flight from Los Angeles and an Emirates flight from Dubai have been diverted to Sydney Airport, while a Qantas service from Tokyo was sent to Adelaide
