Craig Stoehr has stepped down as Thomas Cook Group general counsel after almost three years with the business to ‘pursue other opportunities’.

He joined Thomas Cook when former CEO Harriet Green was at the helm and is the latest executive taken on during that period to leave.

Alice Marsden, company secretary and head of legal, Group and UK and Ireland, has taken on Stoehr’s role in addition to her existing responsibilities.

Thomas Cook said Marsden will sit on the Group Management Council with direct responsibility for corporate governance and legal matters across the Group, UK and airlines, and also oversee the legal functions in all source markets.

Stoehr’s mergers and acquisitions responsibilities will pass to Thomas Cook Group CFO Michael Healy.

Thomas Cook CEO Peter Fankhauser said: "Alice is a very talented lawyer who has played a key role in a series of critical change projects across the business. I look forward to working with her more closely following her well-deserved promotion.

"Craig has been a valued member of our senior management team since April 2013 and I’d like to personally thank him for his efforts. On behalf of everyone at Thomas Cook Group, we wish him well for the future."

A statement said Stoehr had been instrumental in building Thomas Cook’s corporate structure and led a number of ‘important strategic initiatives that contributed to the transformation journey’.

ABTA – The Travel Association today announced that Craig Stoehr, Group General Counsel at Thomas Cook Group plc, will step down from the ABTA Board of Directors, with immediate effect.

This follows Mr Stoehr’s decision to leave Thomas Cook Group plc after almost three years with the company.

He has also stepped down from the ABTA Board of Directors which he joined in December 2014.
