Thomas Cook to bring more flying in-house
Thomas Cook Airlines is to lease a third widebody Airbus A330 for use on long haul routes, mainly to the Caribbean.
The 354-seat aircraft is to enter service on November 1 and will enable the company to reduce its reliance on third-party flying.
The additional long range Airbus A330-200 twinjet will create 16 more jobs for pilots and around 70 for cabin crew, bringing the airline’s fleet up to 25 aircraft.
Thomas Cook Airlines managing director Glen Chipp said: “This third A330 is a significant investment in our long haul market and will enable us to have full control over this increasingly important part of our operation.”
The carrier claims the aircraft will have “high specification” seat back entertainment and 45 premium seats providing additional legroom.
