Thomson cancels flights and issues advice for customers
Thomson has cancelled and delayed flights to destinations in the path of Hurricane Irma.
Wednesday’s flight from London Gatwick to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, will now operate tomorrow (Friday), while today’s Manchester to Punta Cana flight has also been put back by 24 hours.
Meanwhile today’s Gatwick flight to Varadero, Cuba, has been cancelled.
The Varadero-Gatwick flight today September will operate as normal.
Flights today until Sunday to Sanford Florida are currently operating as normal but are being closely monitored.
"Thomson and First Choice are closely monitoring the development of Hurricane Irma which is forecast to affect the Dominican Republic from Thursday, and Cuba and Florida from Saturday," said a spokeswoman.
"As a precautionary measure we have taken the decision to make changes to some flights. Customers due to travel on these flights have the opportunity to cancel or amend free of charge."
"Our experienced reps in resort are supporting our customers in their hotels and we would advise that all customers in the destinations closely follow instructions from the holiday reps and the hotel management in the resort at all times."

"We encourage customers due to travel to Florida, Dominican Republic and Cuba in the coming days to check our website regularly for updates. The weather conditions are subject to change, however we are monitoring the situation very closely with our resort team and the local authorities in the affected areas and will advise customers of any changes to their holiday plans accordingly. We would like to thank customers for their patience as we prioritise those due to travel first."
