Thousands more flights canceled
US flights are being disrupted for the second time in a week due to another winter storm.
A reported 2,565 flights were canceled yesterday, mainly in Chicago and Detroit, according the flight statistic website, Flight Aware.
And 2,290 flights have been canceled today, with Chicago, Newark and Le Guardia in New York, Boston and Reagan National airport in Washington worst affected.
Airlines were issuing weather waivers allowing passengers flying to airports affected by the storms to change their flight plans without paying change fees.
The disruption comes less than a week after the last big storm, which led to airlines grounding more than 8,100 flights from Monday through Wednesday, reports USA Today.
Regional carriers have been worst affected again but the major carriers such as American Airlines and United are also suffering cancelations.
The storm was expected to move east by Sunday evening and into Monday, leading to further cancelations.
Passengers are advised to check with their airline.
