Three planes narrowly avoid ladder left on Birmingham Airport runway

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch says a ladder left on a runway at Birmingham Airport was not noticed until after three planes carrying more than 400 people landed, narrowly missing it.
The ladder remained undetected for more than half an hour, AAIB said in a report. There was a ‘high risk of explosive tyre burst’ the agency said.
