Travel insurance services provider, Travel Insurance Facilities Group, has appointed Richard Smith to the Board of Directors as underwriting and commercial director.
His promotion, from the position of underwriter, comes just over two years after he joined the Kent-based travel insurance specialist.
His responsibilities include managing TIF’s relationship with German insurer Union Reiseversicherung AG (URV), whose UK and Ireland branch office TIF manages.
In his new role, Smith will be heavily involved in systems automation, IT and change management, product development, marketing, company strategy and development, as well as his day-to-day underwriting and broker liaison responsibilities.
Darryl Helliwell, managing director of TIF Group, said: “TIF’s recent restructuring, in which Richard played a prominent role, has given us the ideal platform for future growth.”
Prior to joining TIF, Smith was previously a travel insurance broker with Travel and General Insurance Brokers for two years and also spent four years with Inter Group Insurance Services.
