GUEST EDITOR’S NOTE
The United Nations has declared 2002 the ‘International Year of
Ecotourism’. This ought to be a time for celebration as those
practicing authentic ‘ecotourism’ network with other like-minded
enterprises. Although the official gatherings have been
criticized, many people still believe that significant
contributions can come of it.

The public at large is becoming increasingly aware of the
connections between tourism and the environment and 2002 could
be the year when ecotourism achieves its potential around the
globe. These topics are quite complex because the connections
and networks are so new. Perhaps the greatest potential of the
International Year of Ecotourism is for travellers. The success
of ecotourism depends on where we choose to go and how we visit
places.

15. Site of the Week: Britainexpress.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here’s a site that’s a labour of love for the author, David
Ross. As a committed Anglophile, he has set out to make
BritainExpress.com the best place on the net to get information
about Britain.
TravelMole’s reviewer Adrian Mann says: “it’s packed full of
information and background, and there are mountains of links to
other sites. It’s easy to get around and find what you want,
doesn’t indulge in needless technology, is entertainingly
written, and has all the hallmarks of a site that’s been built
and maintained by someone who’s passionate about what they do.
If you are looking to visit Britain and want to do some research
first, or if you just want ideas for great days out, have a look
at Britainexpress.com first. Highly recommended.”
