A group of 22 Chinese tourists had a lucky escape after a tour bus slammed into a house during a tour in Taiwan.
The crash happened in New Taipei’s Wanli District, destroying the house and killing the driver.
The tour group, which all escaped unhurt, had just visited the Yehliu Geopark on the second day of a Taiwan tour.
Investigators are still trying to work out why the accident happened.
Taiwan’s Tourism Bureau said the bus was only two years old and was registered to Bao Tai Transport Co and contracted to Taipei-based Huanyu International Travel Service for the tour.
The bureau said the tour group continued with its tour once a new vehicle was found.
This latest accident comes just a month after 33 elderly tourists were killed on the Chiang Wei-shui Freeway outside Taipei.
That accident prompted new rules over limiting driving hours to stamp out possible fatigue and a crackdown on potentially faulty vehicles.
"Travel agencies need to find tour buses, restaurants and hotels which are regulated by different government agencies. If these agencies have done their job in regulating various components of the tour, we would feel assured when we choose them. They cannot expect travel agencies to single-handedly improve the quality of tours," said Travel Quality Assurance Association chairman Hsu Chin-jui.
