An Australian woman has died in Bali after being swept into a storm drain.
The 40-year-old mother-of-two from Perth slipped into the water as she walked back from a restaurant with her husband in the Kerobokan area on Sunday night.
Following several days of heavy rains, the water in the drain was overflowing and fast moving. The woman is believed to have hit her head and been knocked out as her partner battled to save her.
Her body was found about 100 metres downstream several hours later.
The woman’s brother told Fairfax Radio: “There had been torrential rain over a number of days. Their taxi stopped in the water for about half an hour, so they decided to walk.”
He said the pair ended up in the water, and only the husband was rescued after he lost his grip on his wife.
