UK Cruise Convention costs lowered
Four ships which have never before featured at a UK Cruise convention are to be available for agent visits next year.
Holland America Line’s Prinsendam, Fred Olsen’s Braemar, Crystal Cruises’ Crystal Symphony and Princess Cruises’ Tahitian Princess will be in Dover for the 2009 event next summer.
More than 450 agents are expected to attend the third annual UK Cruise Convention which is to be held on June 17-19 in Dover.
The cost for attendance will be lower than this year, according to the organising body the Association of Cruise Experts.
New initiatives will include business sessions and a Discovery Zone along with key note speakers, the main conference, cruise trade fair and ship visits.
The convention will focus heavily on helping agents grow their cruise business and discovering new opportunities. Other business sessions will concentrate on supporting those agents new to cruise by providing help and advice from cruise experts.
ACE business development director Andy Harmer said: “We know many agents will face a difficult year in 2009 and that’s why we are holding sessions giving practical advice from industry experts on how to grow the business.
“We are also focussing on the future of the industry – the niche markets, the growing number of destinations and business trends.
“For the first time we will feature a Discovery Zone dedicated to all things destination, and agents will also have use of an online appointment service to book personal time with cruise lines and exhibitors.
“I am also delighted to say that the total cost of attendance at the UK Cruise Convention to the agent will be lower than last year.â€
The convention will begin on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 17 and together with the key events, agents will also be invited to attend a Cruise Away Party and Gala evening.
