UK first for Travelocity net rate hotels push
The UK is the first European country chosen by Travelocity to offer net hotel rates direct to consumers.
The online arm of Sabre Holdings is to offer specially negotiated rates at more than 13,000 hotels. Overall, Travelocity has access to rates at over 60,000 hotels worldwide.
Travelocity Europe includes leisure websites in the UK, France, Germany, Denmark, Norway and Sweden and will “significantly leverage” the Sabre GDS’s “powerful connectivity capabilities and allow travellers to see the most current displays of available rooms and rates”, according to the company.
The push by Travelocity comes the day after Sabre unveiled plans for an internet-based booking tool – MySabre – for European agents, as reported by TravelMole.
Travelocity’s Europe partner marketing director Tedd Evers said: “By providing access to more than 13,000 net rate deals for European consumers. Travelocity once again sets the standard for advocating for customers through great pricing deals.
“As we continue to add even more net rate content to Travelocity’s European web sites through additional partnerships, consumers around the globe will be offered even greater choice.”
Participating hotel groups include InterContinental, Marriott, Best Western, Choice, Starwood, Hyatt and Cendant in addition to “several thousand” independent properties.
“We are providing hotels with a real alternative to the inflexible block booking negotiation that is the current industry norm in Europe,” claimed Mr Evers. “Hotels can now benefit from the unparalleled sales clout of an online agency with 44 million members around the world while maintaining the flexibility to adjust rates and inventory as required.”
