United Airlines upgrading Auckland service

Thursday, 05 Sep, 2017 0

United Airlines will increase capacity on its seasonal service between Auckland and San Francisco, laying on bigger aircraft.

The 787 Dreamliner service will be replaced by United’s larger Boeing 777-300ERs beginning October 31, 2017.

The jets feature an all-new cabin design including United’s new Polaris business class product.

United will operate the nonstop route six days a week until December 17, 2017 and it then goes daily until the end of the season on March 24, 2018.

"Over the years we have seen an overwhelming demand during this popular summer season and we are excited to offer not just the new United Polaris business class but also an increased capacity," said Julie Read, sales director for Australia and New Zealand.

The San Francisco-Auckland service only began last July after a gap of more than a decade.

United has taken delivery of 14 B777 aircraft since the start of the year, and are due to receive another four by the end of 2017.
