Universal Orlando to get ‘road trip’ inspired resort
Universal Orlando will offer a new high-value lodging option for families and travelers on a budget in 2014. The attraction’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort is slated to be built on a 37-acre area within Universal Orlando Resort next to Universal’s Islands of Adventure, home of popular experiences like Marvel Super Hero Island and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
The resort, which will be operated by Loews Hotels & Resorts, will include 900 family suites which sleep six and feature working kitchens for family eat-in savings. There will also be 900 standard guest rooms. Price options will include moderate and value-level plans.
Design will feature a vintage Route 66 look taken from the scrapbooks of many American family ‘road trips.’ Guest rooms and public areas will feature streamlined interiors highlighted with bold colors and a judicious use of neon. The hotel is also set to have its own restaurant and two themed swimming pools areas.
Pricing for the resort will include early park admission and resort-wide charging privileges. It will not offer complimentary Universal Express Unlimited Access.
Paul Whetsel, Loews Hotels & Resorts president and CEO says the new property is part of an overall strategy to: "expand the Loews system in major markets across the United States."
