US land borders to remain closed for another month
The US followed Canada in extending land border restrictions banning nonessential travel. It extended the restriction for a further month with Canada and Mexico until 21 July. It followed Canada’s decision on Friday to keep the US border closed to tourism and leisure travelers.
There are growing calls in the US to resume Canada border crossings but Canada has only fully vaccinated about 20% of citizens so far.
Canada’s Public Safety Minister Bill Blair said that figure will have to significantly increase before any major easing of restrictions.
