Vietjet winging its way to India

Budget carrier Vietjet plans to spread its wings to India.
The airline will open a new route from Ho Chi Minh City to Delhi this summer.
Nguyen Bac Toan, deputy director of commercial at Vietjet announced the news at travel trade show SATTE 2017 in India.
Services will start in either July or August and initially operate three times a week, Toan said.
Toan said it is just the start of Vietjet’s expansion plans in India.
"We are facing direct competition from other airlines on the same route, but we will be looking at partnerships with airlines to add more domestic connectivity within India."
"The second phase might see more frequency of flights and addition of other destinations within the country. India is a big potential market and we are looking to expand our network here," he added.
Vietjet recently signed a MOU with flag carrier Air India to cooperate on air services between the two countries.
The agreement also called for the joint operating of sales channels and marketing activities.
Toan said the new Delhi flights would almost half the travel time between the two cities due to the current inconvenient timings of connecting flights.
