Wellings is new president

Saturday, 21 Sep, 2004 0

ABTA’s board has voted Martin Wellings in as the organisation’s interim president.

The 18 ABTA board members voted Mr Wellings in a second ballot after a tie resulted from the first ballot between Mr Wellings and Steven Freudmann. The exact results of the ballot will not be disclosed.

In the first ballot Sandy MacPherson and John Dellaway were knocked out of the running.

Votes were sent out last week and the last one arrived at Newman Street in the post this morning, after which ABTA announced its new president.

Mr Wellings’ role as president will last until ABTA's AGM on April 20 next year. After that the nominations for the new president will be invited within seven days. The acting president cannot stand for that election under current ABTA regulations.
