Thursday, 18 August 20053 min read

For the 9th year in a row, Americans said Australia was their first choice for travel when cost was not a consideration.

Rounding out the top five vacation destinations for Americans was Italy, Great Britain, Ireland and France.

Germany was no. 6, Canada was 7 and Greece was no. 8.

The Harris Poll that did the study speculated that the Olympic Games helped Greece move from no. 14 to 8.

One new country on the US list this year for the first time was the Bahamas, which ranked 15th.
