Wotif.com appoints Chief Operating Officer
Wotif.com ( www.wotif.com ), Australia’s leading accommodation website, announced today that Robbie Cooke has accepted an appointment with the company as Chief Operating Officer.
Cooke is currently the Strategist and General Counsel at UNiTAB Limited, which he joined six years ago when it listed on the ASX. He has been instrumental in the acquisition activity undertaken by UNiTAB since its listing which has driven UNiTAB’s share price from $2.00 in 1999 to around $13.00 today. These acquisitions included the purchase of the South Australian TAB, the Northern Territory TAB, Tattersall’s Queensland Gaming business, and the Tab Limited and Jupiters Limited gaming businesses.
Commenting on his appointment, Cooke said: “I am extremely excited about the opportunity ahead. Wotif.com has had impressive and consistent year-on-year growth during its first five years of operation matched with significant and realistic, potential for the future.
“Like UNiTAB, Wotif.com is technology-driven and I was attracted by the opportunity to join a technology-based global growth company.”
According to Graeme Wood, Wotif.com CEO, Cooke’s appointment reinforces Wotif.com’s position, and commitment to growth, in the online travel market place: “Robbie joins us with a successful track record, and the knowledge and experience that we are confident will enable us to achieve continued profitability and growth through strategic development.”
At UNiTAB Cooke also has responsibility for investor relations, regulatory compliance and the legal affairs of the UNiTAB Group.
Prior to UNiTAB, Cooke held commercial, corporate finance and legal roles at Santos, HSBC James Capel and MIM Holdings. He has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and is a qualified company secretary.
