More than three quarters of Britons say they do not let terrorist threats dictate their holiday plans, according to a recent survey. Kelkoo.co.uk, Europe’s largest online shopping search engine, conducted an online poll last month, questioning more than 600 British shoppers on their travel habits. The poll, which was designed to include all online shoppers, not just online travel shoppers, found that 76% of Britons who purchase holidays online have made no change to their travel habits since 11 September 2001 and the recent Madrid bombings. Some 43% of those surveyed have travelled more in the last two years than ever before with less than 20% saying they had reduced their travelling habits since 2001. Price remains the chief concern of an overwhelming 89% of travellers, with only 11% rating safety concerns above price. This was particularly true when choosing the flight only where less than 8% were more concerned about travel safety than cost. Online travel shoppers proved slightly more cost conscious than high street travel shoppers, with 6% more online travel shoppers citing price as their key criteria in making travel decisions.
