Ticket re-pricing technology is being made available to Galileo and Worldspan agents in the UK and Ireland.
Rapid Reprice was developed by Worldspan in the 1990s and was identified early on as a key benefit of the Galileo/Worldspan integration under parent company Travelport.
The service is designed to cut out the labour-intensive manual process of re-pricing and reissuing flight tickets which can take up to 25 minutes.
It claims to reduce the process to between one and five minutes by automatically searching old and new fares, rules and itineraries and generating a new, accurate air fare.
This result takes into account all appropriate rules, taxes, additional collections, refunds, penalties and administrative fees.
The technology can process up to nine passengers within a single booking file and incorporates both public and private fares of participating airlines. The speedy re-price of tickets can be made before departure as well as during the journey.
Travelport GDS Rapid Reprice global product manager Deirdre Hodge said: “This technology is an industry first in the UK and Ireland and we are very excited about both the time and cost savings this translates to for our travel companies.”
She said it would “solve the multitude of problems agents encounter when reissuing tickets, greatly increasing their customer service delivery”.
UK and Ireland general manager Jérôme Moisan said: “Travelport Rapid Reprice technology revolutionises the way the travel industry re-issues tickets and this cutting edge innovation is a shining example of how our agencies continue to benefit from the integration of Worldspan and Galileo GDSs.”
