Agents urged to prepare for APIS deadline
Agents are being urged to prepare their customer profiles in time to help comply with new US passenger entry regulations.
Travel technology systems supplier Dataflexnet has created an e-profile system designed to help agents prepare for the Advanced Passenger Information System deadline this autumn.
Additional information will need to be disclosed to US Customs for all passengers flying to the US. This includes the advanced disclosure of passport number, destination address, date of birth, name and gender of all passengers.
An input facility enabling agents to enter their current customer data into a reservation system has been developed by Dataflexnet and Galileo has created new Special Service Request (SSR) fields to accept this data in the CRS.
The internet-based programme enables customers and agents to log-on and add or amend their own profile details directly on the travel agent’s website.
Dataflexnet sales director Steve Holmes said: “Our e-profiling system will save agents valuable time and insure the correct traveller information is being held. Agents should make sure that their client data is input in time for their autumnal peak booking season.”
Jason Clarke, UK & Ireland regional managing director for Galileo parent Cendant Travel Distribution Services said: “Our new Special Service Request (SSR) fields are designed to enhance the electronic distribution infrastructure for agents and will provide a valuable time saving tool for agents to meet the new regulations.”
