The board of Alaska Airlines has named Wayne Newton as vice president of airport operations and customer service.
Newton began his career at Alaska in 1988 as a ramp service agent and now has overall responsibility of airport operations in 84 cities comprising a workforce of more than 2,700.
For the past two years he held the post of managing director of airport operations at the airline’s Seattle hub.
He also previously served as managing director of system operations control.
Newton, a qualified private pilot, replaces Jeff Butler, who is now vice president of guest and inflight services – Virgin America.
"Wayne knows this business inside and out and is perfectly suited to lead one of our largest work groups," said Ben Minicucci, president and COO of Alaska Airlines," said Alaska Air’s president and COO Ben Minicucci.
