Alaska Airlines beefs up Boeing Max order
Alaska Airlines has restructured its existing order for Boeing Max jets, adding another 23 planes.
It brings the total order to 68 and the airline says it has negotiated a good deal for the expanded order.
Including future options for 52 planes, it totals 120.
"We are extremely proud to be announcing this transformative agreement with Boeing. We believe in this aeroplane, we believe in our strong partnership with Boeing, and we believe in the future of Alaska Airlines," said rad Tilden, CEO of Alaska Air Group.
The Max jets will replace its Airbus jets as the airline moves toward an all-Boeing mainline fleet.
The Max aircraft will use 20% less fuel compared to the planes they will replace.
The airline first placed an order for 32 planes back in October 2012, and last month added 13 under a separate lease agreement.
