Alaska Airlines joins Oneworld alliance next spring
Alaska Airlines will become a full oneworld alliance member on 31 March 2020.
It is the first global airline alliance for the Seattle-based carrier.
"We are officially joining a family with some of the best airlines in the world. The possibilities are tremendous," said Nate Pieper, Alaska’s Senior Vice President for Alliances.
Alliance membership gives Alaska Mileage Plan frequent flyers access to oneworld’s network of more than 1,200 destinations.
It allows loyalty members to earn and redeem points on other member airlines and get reciprocal benefits such as lounge access, preferred seating and free checked bags.
Alaska first announced it was joining oneworld earlier this year.
It said it offers ‘more choice, broader use of loyalty benefits, and seamless global service.’
Alaska’s codeshare partner American Airlines is a oneworld member.
