Alitalia postpones accounts
The drama continues at beleagured airline Alitalia as its board postponed the release of its annual accounts on Bank Holiday Monday.
Director were set to approve 2007’s accounts but instead adjourned the meeting.
The airline is already on thin ice following an Italian government bail-out to the tune of 300m euro. The move has triggered concerns by the European Commission that the loan broke the rules on state aid to carriers. Governments are not supposed to help companies in financial trouble as it could impede fair competition.
The airline has already lost its chairman Maurizio Prato following the breakdown of talks for a takeover by Air France-KLM.
