The Singapore Tourism Board has suspended the license of another travel agent which has fallen foul of strict STB rules.
Deal Travel has been suspended indefinitely for failing to submit ‘necessary documents to verify its compliance with the minimum financial requirements,’ STB said.
It also said some of Deal Travel’s business partners had complained of non-payment for services.
Deal Travel offers discounted travel packages on Deal.com.sg for short haul destinations in Southeast Asia.
During the open-ended period of suspension, Deal Travel is still required to provide travel services for customers with confirmed bookings but is not allowed to take on new business.
The company is a subsidiary of parent company Ensogo which closed down its Southeast Asian operations earlier this month and is no longer providing financial support to these businesses, according to the Bangkok Post.
"These decisions have been made to preserve the company’s cash for new investment opportunities," Ensogo co-founder Kris Marszalek said as quoted by the Bangkok Post.
STB has advised customers to contact Deal Travel about their bookings or contact their travel insurance provider.
