The first hurricane of the season is disrupting Independence Day holiday plans on the US east coast.
Millions of people from Daytona Beach, Florida, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Cape Hatteras, North Carolina; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Wildwood, New Jersey; the Hamptons, New York; and Cape Cod, Massachusetts, will be impacted on their July 4 vacation.
Accuweather reports thunderstorms will linger into the evening around Florida, affecting planned firework events at attractions including Walt Disney World.
There are warnings the category 2 storm will cause power cuts and flash flooding in Long Island to southern New England beaches.
