ASA bans Ryanair advert slating Lastminute.com
The Advertising Standards Authority has banned a Ryanair advert which read ‘Robbed by lastminute.com?’.
Lastminute lodged a complaint against the ad, which showed a cartoon burglar with ‘online agent’ written on his shirt.
It said the advert “denigrated and discredited” its business and was misleading and inaccurate.
The ad claimed that booking Ryanair tickets through an online agent was a rip-off.
According to reports in the Guardian, Ryanair defended the advert claiming Lastminute.com was not authorised to sell its flights.
It said it had sent a complaint to trading standards officers about Lastminute.com’s terms, conditions and schedule information.
But Ryanair’s defence was rejected by the ASA and the advert was banned.
