ATC problems shut down Gatwick

All flights at London Gatwick were suspended from just after 5pm until 7pm yesterday (Wednesday) due to Air Traffic Control systems ‘issues’.

The airport said it was investigating and it was too early to speculate on the cause of the problems.

It said Gatwick is fully operational this morning.

Last night it had advised passengers due to fly to check the status of their flight with their airline before travelling to the airport.

"We are working with ANS, our provider, to rectify this issue as quickly as possible. We apologise and advise passengers to check flight info with your airline," it had said.

Incoming flights were diverted to other airports.
