BA increases fuel surcharges
British Airways is to further increase fuel surcharges on flights later this week.
From Thursday (November 15), surcharges for medium-haul flights of less than nine hours will go up by £10 per one-way flight to £48, and by £15 to £58 for longer journeys.
Short-haul flight surcharges will rise by £2 to £10 per flight.
BA said the rise “reflects new record oil prices and takes into account rising fuel costs”.
But Ryanair condemned the measure as “unjust and unfair” claiming it was the only airline to guarantee no fuel surcharges.
“BA is gouging passenegrs with unjustified fuel surcharges when it is getting its fuel at $75 a barrel, almost $20 below amrket prices,” a Ryanair spokesman claimed.
