Board appointment at icelolly.com
Holiday price comparison site icelolly.com has appointed Steve Wilson to the newly-created role of chief marketing officer.
In the new board-level position, he will be responsible for the development and delivery of the firm’s digital, brand and communications strategy, including its high profile partnerships.
Wilson joins from British Gas Business, where he was head of online for the past three years.
"More and more people are going online to find deals for their holidays, so it’s a good time to be joining the travel industry," he said.
The company’s CEO Dave Clayton added: "Renewing our focus on the Icelolly brand is vital to our ambitious growth plans, and the creation of a CMO role allows us to take a more strategic approach to marketing.
"Steve brings with him significant experience in online marketing strategy and he’ll be spearheading the integration of our online and offline channels to drive growth and brand awareness."
The appointment comes six months after a £17m management buyout, led by Clayton and backed by Palatine Private Equity.
The firm has recently secured above the line partnerships with the Ministry of Sound and Missguided, and continues to work with ITV shows such as Saturday Night Take Away and Catchphrase.
