Boeing strike impacts Norwegian Group flight scheduling

Norwegian carried 2,263,270 and a total of 2,619,529 for the Norwegian group including the Widerøe. Airline brand.

Passenger traffic was up 11% on a capacity increase of 10% compared to September 2023.

The load factor increased by 1.2 percentage points from the same period last year, to a high of 85.2%.

“I am pleased that we have increased load factors throughout the summer and into the autumn season, while at the same time delivering double-digit capacity growth,” said Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian.

Norwegian’s capacity (ASK) was 3,541 million seat kilometres, up 10%.

Actual passenger traffic (RPK) was 3,017 million seat kilometres, an increase of 12%.

However, flight punctuality fell to 78.6%, in part due to weather and air traffic control restrictions.

Norwegian operated an average of 86 aircraft in September.

The airline says the Boeing technicians and mechanics strike is having an impact.

“The strike is further delaying Boeing deliveries, which were already significantly behind schedule. This will delay our deliveries well into next summer,” Karlsen said.
