Boston pastor set free by Bedouin captor in Egypt
A Boston pastor and two hostages from his US tour group in Egypt were released Monday by a Bedouin captor who had taken them in order to negotiate the release of a relative from a Cairo prison.
Michel Louis, Lissa Alphonse and their Egyptian tour guide were snatched from their tour bus in the Sinai region on Friday while on their way to the Monastery of Saint Catherine, a popular destination with faith travelers. All three were released unharmed.
Their kidnapper, Jirmy Abu-Masuh, had negotiated with authorities to work toward the release of his uncle, whom he said had been unjustly arrested because he not paid a police bribe. Police claimed to have arrested the man on suspicion of drug possession.
Louis’ son, Jean Louis, told the press on his father’s release: "We believe in God, and let me tell you, he did not let us down."
