Boy ‘thrown’ from Tate Modern viewing gallery
A six-year-old boy is in a critical but stable condition after he was allegedly thrown from the 10th floor of the Tate Modern art gallery in London yesterday.
The gallery, the UK’s most popular tourist attraction last year, said it remains open but its 10th floor viewing platform would stay shut today.
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.
Police say there is nothing to suggest he was known to the victim.
According to reports, the child was found on a fifth floor roof.
Witnesses said they heard a ‘loud bang’, before seeing a woman scream: "Where’s my son, where’s my son?"
The Tate said it was working closely with the police and added: "All our thoughts are with the child and his family."
