Breakwell to join Expedia board in shake-up
Simon Breakwell is set to move up to Expedia’s European board as part of a management shake-up by the online travel company.
Breakwell has resigned his position as president of Expedia’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region and will be nominated to join the board of Expedia Inc.
If approved, he would become the first European member of the company’s board.
Dermot Halpin, currently COO for the EMEA region, will become president of EMEA, overseeing all of Expedia’s European managing directors outside its Partner Services Group.
Meanwhile, there have been two new management appointments in Expedia’s PSG, which is responsible for establishing and managing strategic relationships with supply partners worldwide.
Henrik Kjellberg, who joined Expedia in 2001 and is currently head of the company’s car, hotel and destination services supply group for Europe and Asia, will become senior vice president of international lodging and destination services.
Matthew Crummack has joined Expedia in the newly created position of vice president of European airline and tour operator partner services. Most recently, he was global business development director for the Tesco unit of Nestlé UK and has also held sales and marketing roles with Procter & Gamble in Geneva and the UK.
He will lead a team of 30 people working across EMEA with operations in Paris, Munich, London and Milan.
Expedia said all the moves were designed to bolster its position in the region.
