British boy drowns in Portugal pool
A five-year-old British boy on holiday in the Algarve has died in a swimming pool accident.
According to reports, he had been playing with siblings at a resort near Silves.
Paramedics confirmed he had died just after 16:50pm BST on Saturday.
The Foreign Office said it is providing support to the boy’s family.
This is the second incident in less than two weeks of a child on holiday drowning in a pool in Portugal.
In the first incident, a six-year-old Belgian boy became trapped in a pool filter and later died in hospital.
The death is being investigated.
