A Scottish tourist was shot and injured after an angry roadside confrontation with a local in Thailand.
What initially was thought to be a road rage incident led to the holidaymaker being shot in the arm.
He was then taken to hospital by his alleged shooter.
Thai man Kitinan Pantarak left the hospital before police arrived but has since been detained.
He told police it wasn’t a random road rage incident as he already knew the Scot.
The holidaymaker was allegedly a customer at the Thai man’s cannabis shop and owed him money.
An altercation took place with the touris fromt Dundee first throwing a punch.
Police Colonel Phasawin Kaewtai said: “We received a report that a British man had been shot with a firearm and was injured.
“Officers and investigators went to the scene and found that the British man had already been taken to Pai Hospital. He had sustained an injury to his arm.”
“Police also revealed that the suspect claimed to have met the Scottish man three weeks ago.”
In an added complication, the Scot is now being investigated for overstaying his visa.
