A 787 Dreamliner bound for Japan was forced to turn around and fly back to Russia after toilets on the plane refused to flush.
The Japan Airlines (JAL) Boeing carrying 151 crew and passengers left Moscow late Wednesday for Tokyo but returned two hours later, a JAL spokesman said.
Six of the seven toilets on board were left unusable. The average flight time between Moscow and Tokyo is around 10 hours.
The spokesman added the glitches were believed to be due to an electrical fault but had nothing to do with the plane’s batteries, which were the cause of a global grounding of the aircraft earlier this year.
Meanwhile another JAL Dreamliner aircraft had to be turned back after the failure of two anti-ice systems, which prevent ice building up around the engine.
