New York City has reported another bumper year for visitor arrivals.
According to the latest figures, it welcomed an estimated 58.3 million visitors last year, up by 1.8 million visitors from 2014.
This included a record high of 12.3 million international visitors.
Hoteliers sold a record 33.7 million room-nights last year, up 4% on the previous year, while 6.1 million meetings and conventions delegates visited the City’s five boroughs in 2015.
NYC & Company said the top four international markets – the UK, Canada, Brazil and China – all grew last year with China expanding by 14%.
"The City continues to evolve, always offering fresh reasons to visit again and again, with more new developments on the horizon. However, with the continuing pressure on the global economy and the strengthening dollar, we will all need to work even harder in 2016 to sustain our competitive edge," said NYC & Company CEO Fred Dixon.
