Carnival takes new direction
Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines announced for the first time it would offer a series of Mediterranean voyages with extended visits to some of Europe’s most popular ports beginning next summer.
The program will be offered on the new 110,000-ton Carnival Liberty. It will go on eight, 12-day cruises operating year-round from Rome. Ports will include Naples, Italy; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Venice, Italy; Messina, Sicily; Barcelona, Spain; Cannes, France and Livorno, Italy.
Carnival President and CEO Bob Dickinson said the new cruises would offer “excellent tour opportunities in the many historic cities. He said the cruise line expected to attract both experienced and first-time travelers.
Following the start of 12-day cruises, Carnival Liberty will also operate 16 day transatlantic voyages departing from Rome.
Reservations will begin being accepted 22 June. The price for the 12-day cruises will start at $1,499 per person, or $1,099 for the 16-day version.
