Cathay Pacific increases Adelaide services
Cathay Pacific announced increased capacity to South Australia by upping frequency to Adelaide to six flights a week.
That will add an extra 26,000 seats annually, the airline says.
Operated by Airbus A330 aircraft, the additional flight kicks off on October 28.
"We are delighted to be offering more services to cater for the growing demand on this popular route from Adelaide to Hong Kong and beyond. It also reconfirms our commitment to growing tourism in South Australia," said Cathay Pacific general manager of southwest pacific, Rakesh Raicar.
That commitment was recently strengthened by extending its partnership of Port Adelaide Football Club.
Port Adelaide takes on the Gold Coast Suns in Shanghai in May, which is being promoted by Cathay Pacific with special flight packages including flights, game tickets and accommodation options.
"The new schedule will make it easier for our key markets in Europe, North America, China and Asia to reach Adelaide and improved connection times in Hong Kong will make travel to Adelaide considerably easier for these markets," said South Australian Tourism Commission CEO, Rodney Harrex.
Tourism related spending from international travellers reached $1.15 billion in South Australia last year, Harrex said.
The extra flight balances out Cathay’s split schedule on the route, with early afternoon flights departing from Adelaide on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and evening departures on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
