Cheapflights heading for US expansion

Tuesday, 3 May 20053 min read

The online travel price comparison site Cheapflights is to restructure its management in order to “accelerate its next period of growth” – with particular attention being paid to the north American market.

The Guardian reports that the company has hired a firm of recruitment experts to install a senior executive in the United States, as well as creating the post of chief operating officer in the UK.

The newspaper hails the development as “further evidence of a growing sense of optimism among internet companies that survived the dotcom crash”.

Since 2000, the company has seen its number of customers multiply fast: there were 300,000 unique users each month, with 70 advertising “partners”; now there are four million unique users each month and 900 “partners” worldwide.

Chief executive David Soskin said: “With the prospect of our second decade drawing closer, we have the resources to put in place the management tools to support our planned expansion of the business.

“We have in prospect further significant improvements to our websites and the further growth of our successful business in the vast US travel market.”
